Andrew Ghimpeteanu posted a shutout, stopping all 13 of the Long Beach Sharks shots throughout the game. The New England Stars took the lead before the halfway point in the first on a goal from Cole Archambeault and never looked back.
Cole Archambeault did his part, adding 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and Ryan Caisse had a productive game with 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists).
In the first, Archambeault opened the scoring for the Stars with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 11:42 with helpers from his linemates, Caisse and Gudaitis.
In the second, Lapointe deposited a goal at 4:43 with helpers from his teammates Archambeault and Flynn. Norris put in a goal at 15:26 with assists from Wilson and Glover. Archambeault netted a goal at 18:29 with a helper from Caisse. Barone quickly followed with a goal at 19:07 with assists from Burnham and Cormier.
During the third, Gudaitis put in a goal at 11:20 with helpers from his linemates, Gauvin and Burnham. Barter scored a goal at 13:41 with assists from Lovejoy and Flynn. Caisse netted a goal at 15:49 with helpers from his linemates, Gudaitis and Lapointe.
New England’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Ghimpeteanu’s shutout, as he stopped all 13 of the shots he faced. Ghimpeteanu’s counterpart, Cortez, also had a big night, managing to stop 41 of 49, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the New England Stars’ record to (14-5-2-0).
