In the second, Gauvin opened the scoring for the Stars with a goal at 6:13 with an assist from his linemate Gudaitis. Kervinen finally put the Islanders on the board with a goal at 11:20 with a helper from his teammate St. Amand.
In the third period, Archambeault answered for New England with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 2:13 with assists from Valinder and Gatley. Archambeault scored a goal at 17:58 with a helper from defenseman Glover.
The Stars’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Moon’s big night as he stopped 35 of the 36 shots he faced. On the other hand, Moon’s counterpart, Maki, and the Islanders’ defense did not have such a great night stopping only 22 of 25 shots.
This win brings the New England Stars’ record to (26-8-2-0).
