In the first, Archambeault opened the scoring for the Stars with a goal at 2:11 with helpers from his linemates, Lempiainen and Gatley. Gudaitis netted a goal at 7:35 with helpers from teammates Wilson and Valinder. St. Amand finally put the Islanders on the board with a goal at 11:40 with assists from Conway and Marston. Gatley answered for New England with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 18:27 with helpers from his linemates, Archambeault and Lempiainen.
During the third period, Kervinen answered for Cape Cod with a goal at 4:20 with an assist from Sinisalo. Archambeault answered for the Stars with a goal at 6:52 with helpers from Gatley and Glover. Norris quickly followed with a goal at 8:23 with an assist from Gudaitis. Herling scored a goal at 18:43 with helpers from Burnham and Lovejoy.
New England’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Ghimpeteanu’s big night as he stopped 32 of the 34 shots he faced. Ghimpeteanu’s counterpart, Maki, also had a big night, managing to stop 39 of 45, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the New England Stars’ record to (21-7-2-0).
