Sage Broda came up big, stopping 33 of 35 shots throughout the game. The New England Stars took the lead late in the first on a goal from Tyson Gudaitis and never looked back.
Ryan Paul had no trouble finding the scoresheet, adding 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and Tyson Gudaitis delivered for his team with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).
During the first, Paul opened the scoring for the Stars with a goal at 3:15 with helpers from his teammates Paige and Gately. Gately quickly followed with a goal at 4:12 with helpers from his linemates, Hammner and Paul. Gudaitis deposited what turned out to be the game winning goal at 17:54 with assists from Archambeault and Arbuckle.
During the second, Paul scored a goal at 1:29 with helpers from his linemates, Pilatsky and Hammner. Conlin finally put the Islanders on the board with a goal at 11:20 with assists from Moore and Roy. Deady deposited a goal at 19:38 with helpers from O’donnell and Tobey.
During the third, Johnson answered for New England with a goal at 13:48 with assists from Gudaitis and Arbuckle. Gauvin quickly followed with a goal at 15:18 with a helper from Lempiainen.
The Stars’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Broda’s big night as he stopped 33 of the 35 shots he faced. On the other hand, Broda’s counterpart, Zemba, and Cape Cod’s defense had some trouble stopping only 18 of 24 shots.
