Stars Take Weekend Series vs. Royals

The Stars traveled to Rochester, NY this weekend to take on the Roc City Royals of the Northeast Division in a two game series.

Saturday night the puck dropped at 8:00p with the Stars coming into the weekend on a 2 game win streak. At the end of the first period, the game remained scoreless with the stars having to kill 5 penalties in the period. Roc City would get on the board first with a power play goal 5:46 into the 2nd by Ryan Cosgrove, assisted by Bryan Moscicki and Henrik Toiviainen. The Stars would respond with a goal by Nick Johnson assisted by Hunter McTague and John Krapian 12:16 into the 2nd. Neither team was able to notch another goal in regulation forcing an overtime tied at 1-1. The Stars’ Nick Jonson would get his 2nd of the game and game winner 3:55 into overtime unassisted. Dom Lamanno got the win in net for the stars stopping 28 of 29 shots.

The two teams would face-off again on Sunday in a 12:00p game. New England would open up the scoring this time early in the first period by John Krapian assisted by Hunter McTague and Cole Archambeault. They would extend their lead to 2 just over 7 minutes later with a goal by Brandon Hammner assisted by Ryan Paul and Chris Benschnieder. Roc City would respond with the only goal in the 2nd coming on the power play by Brandon Corey assisted by Ryan Cosgrove and Henrik Toiviainen. The Stars would regain their 2 goal lead 9:08 into the 3rd, Krapian getting his 2nd of the game assisted by Cole Archambeault and Chris Barone. Just over two minutes later, Roc city would cut the Stars lead to 1 with a power play goal by Brandon Corey, assisted by Peter Izzo and Aidan Connolly. Roc City would not be able to put another one past Gren Moon giving the Stars a 3-2 win. Moon stopped 23 of 25 shots for the Stars.

The Stars return to action Friday, October 14, as they travel to the Cape Cod Islanders for a 7:30p puck drop. They then return home on October 15, to host the Northeast Generals at 3:50p. The Stars are currently in 1st place in the NA3HL Coast Division standings and entering next weekend on a 4 game win streak!
