The New England stars had 2 games over the weekend. Friday the hosted the East Coast Minutemen in a rematch from the previous weekend, and Saturday, the Stars traveled to play the Long Beach Sharks in NY.
The Minutemen would get on the board first Friday night only to be matched before the end of the period by Stars’ Ryan Paul, with assists going to Cole Archambeault and Brandon Hammner. The second period would be all New England Scoring two goals, coming from Tyson Gudaitis and Ryan Paul for his second of the night. The third period the Stars would close out the game tallying four goals! Goals came from Cole Archambeault, Brendan Miller, Brandon Hammner and Ryan Paul to complete his hat-trick on the night! A final score of 7-1 New England with Greg Moon getting the win in net stopping 18 of 19 shots faced.
Saturday the Stars made the trip to the Long Beach Sharks for an 8:00p matchup. Long Beach would find their way on the board first scoring 5:40 in to the first period. The Stars would get their offense going just a minute – thirty following the Sharks goal with a goal coming from Cole Archambeault, assisted by Brandon Hammner and Ryan Paul on the power play. Ryan Paul would notch another goal for the Stars just over a minute later on the power play, this time assisted from Time Paige and Nolan Arbuckle. Brandon Hammner would extend the Stars lead to two with a goal 11:46 in assisted by Cole Archambeault and Ryan Paul to close out an exciting first period. Long Beach would score the lone goal of the 2nd to bring the game to 3-2 Stars going in to the third period. Long Beach would eventually tie the game up with just 4:59 remaining in regulation to force overtime. the Sharks would get their third unanswered goal, and the game winner 3:31 in to overtime giving them the 4-3 victory over the Stars. Sage Broda turned away 44 of 48 shots faced.
“Friday we played a complete game and got contributions from everyone. Saturday we played well also. It’s not easy playing on a Friday night, bussing 5 and a half hours the next day and then playing a good team that was rested. But we did, and we played hard and disciplined. Another 3 of 4 weekend. We now have a short week of practice and then off to Minnesota for three games against three first place teams.” – Head Coach Darryl Green
The Stars are back in action next weekend at the NA3HL Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota. Their game schedule is as follows:
