The New England Stars originally had two games scheduled for this weekend vs. the L/A Fighting Spirit. Friday away then home on Sunday. However, due to the snowstorms, Sunday’s game was canceled.
On Friday, February 10, the Stars traveled to the L/A Fighting spirit for a 7:900p matchup. Peter Menzies would put the Stars up 1-0 scoring on the power play 5:07 into the first period, assisted by Michael Lempianen and Ryan Gauvin. The Spirit would respond with two goals only to be canceled out by a power play goal by Brandon Hammner, unassisted 18:57 into the period timing the game at 2-2 heading into the 2nd period. The 2nd period would be all New England with two goals early in the period. Ian Gately would score on the power play, assisted by Tyson Gudaitis and John Krapian 2:05 in. Derek Flynn would extend the lead just 37 seconds later, assisted by Aidan Conlon. Alex Pilatsky would extend the lead to 3 scoring 2:18 into the 3rd period, assisted by Eric Glover and Cole Archambeault. Time would run out giving the Stars a 5-3 victory. Dom Lamanno got the win in net stopping 31 of 33 shots faced!
“Aside from a productive power play our 1st period was not very good. The 2nd was much better and our 3rd was very good. We were fortunate our 1st didn’t cost us but we did get better and better as the game progressed. Lamanno was very good in net and Miller, Butkowski, and Johnson were solid all night up front.” – Head Coach Darryl Green
The Stars have two games scheduled for this upcoming weekend, Friday they host the Northeast Generals at 8:10 PM and Sunday they travel to the East Coast Minutemen for a 2:00 PM matchup. All Stars games can be watched live on Hockey TV!
