The Stars had two games this weekend starting on Friday night as then traveled to Falmouth to take on the Cape Cod Islanders, then returned home to host the Northeast Generals on Saturday at Skate 3.
Friday started with he Stars getting on the board first with a goal by Zach Cormier unassisted. The Stars would extend their lead to two with the sole goal in the 2nd as well, coming from Ryan Paul, assisted by Hunter McTague and Chris Barone. The Islanders would fight their way back into the game netting 2 goals in the 3rd forcing overtime. The Islanders would score just over 1 minute into the OT period on a power play that carried over form the 3rd period. Dom Lamanno was in net for the Stars stopping 25 of 28 shots.
The Stars returned home on Saturday to take on the 4th place Northeast Generals at 3:50p. The Stars would open up the scoring first again with a goal by Brandon Hammner, assisted by Ryan Paul and Derek Flynn 8:28 into the first. The Generals would respond with a goal a minute before the end of the period. Despite chances at both ends of the ice, the second would be a scoreless period. The Generals would go ahead a goal just 2:18 into the 3rd. The Stars would not be able to get another past Generals goaltender Peter Ciccarelli. Greg Moon was in net for the Stars stopping 18 of 20 shots.
“Despite losing both games we played well for 5 of 6 periods. Clearly we did not score enough and a lot of that can be attributed to our inability to get to the front of the oppositions net. We’ll have a good week of practice and prepare for our single game this weekend. “ – Coach Darryl Green
The Stars are back in action next weekend with only 1 game being Saturday, October 22, at 8:30p vs. the East Coast Minutemen. All Stars games can be watched live online on Hockey TV.
