The New England Stars fell to the L/A Fighting Spirit last weekend, falling 5-1 and 3-1, thus ending the team's playoff berth.
The Stars faced a tough challenge on the road in the first round of the playoffs against a strong Spirit team in the Eastern Conference. Now, the Spirit will go on to face the Cape Cod Islanders; the New York Aviators will face the Jersey Shore Wildcats and winners will play for the NA3EHL championship.
"We had a difficult time getting to their net and did not get any kind of sustained offensive zone time," said Stars Head Coach Darryl Green. "We saw spurts of it, but only spurts. It's too bad; we had a great group of young men."
The Stars had an outstanding season, though, finishing in third place at 32-9-3.
"Despite our lack of success in the playoffs, our regular season was very good," said Green. "All of us took steps forward including us coaches. It's sad to see this season end. It really was a solid group of people who genuinely cared about one another."
