As well, Andrew Ghimpeteanu posted a shutout, stopping all 14 of Maine shots throughout the game. The New England Stars took the lead late in the first on a goal from Michael Lempiainen and never looked back.
Derek Lovejoy delivered for his team with 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists) and Connor Barter did his part, adding 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists).
During the first, Lempiainen opened the scoring for the Stars with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 18:16 with helpers from his linemates, Barter and Gudaitis.
In the second period, Wilson put in a goal at 6:33 with helpers from his teammates Lovejoy and Lempiainen. Barter scored a goal at 18:09 with assists from Lempiainen and Lovejoy.
In the third, Lovejoy netted a goal at 0:59 with helpers from Lempiainen and Barter. Glover quickly followed with a goal at 2:17 with assists from Gudaitis and Gauvin.
The Stars’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Ghimpeteanu’s shutout, as he stopped all 14 of the shots he faced. Ghimpeteanu’s counterpart, Jenkins, also had a big night, managing to stop 29 of 34, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the New England Stars’ record to (8-3-1-0).
