In the first period, Barter opened the scoring for the Stars with a goal at 5:15 with a helper from defenseman Cormier. Gudaitis deposited what turned out to be the game winning goal at 11:43 with helpers from his linemates, Archambeault and Flynn. Gudaitis put in a goal at 15:07 with assists from his linemates, Barter and Flynn.
In the second, Plummer finally put the Nordiques on the board with a goal at 18:04 with assists from teammates Labrie and Mccormick.
In the third period, Archambeault answered for New England with a goal at 14:20 with helpers from his linemates, Gudaitis and Gauvin.
The Stars’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Ghimpeteanu’s big night as he stopped 25 of the 26 shots he faced. Ghimpeteanu’s counterpart, St. Pierre, also had a big night, managing to stop 38 of 42, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the New England Stars’ record to (35-9-8-4).
