Stars wrap up regular season with a 10 game win streak!

The New England Stars had 3 home games this past week. On Wednesday they hosted the L/A Fighting Spirit in an afternoon matchup, then hosted the Cape Cod Islanders on Saturday, and the Fighting Spirit again on Sunday.

On Wednesday, March 8th, the Stars hosted the L/A Fighting Spirit in a 1:20p matchup. The Stars would take a 1-0 lead halfway through the first with a goal by Tyson Gudaitis, 9:59 into the period. His goal was assisted by Ian Gately. Gately would stretch the lead to 2 6:47 into the 2nd period, assisted by Brandon Hammner and Aidan Conlon. A scoreless 3rd would give the Stars the 2-0 win. Dom Lamanno with the shutout in net stopping all 26 shots faced!

On Saturday, March 10th, The Stars were back in action at home in a playoff preview match vs. the Cape Cod Islanders. Gudaitis would once again get the scoring going for New England with the sole goal in the 1st. His goal came with just 0:41 remaining in the period, assisted by Alex Pilatsky and Nolan Arbuckle. Derek Flynn capitalized early in the 2nd on a shorthanded opportunity to extend the lead to 2. His goal was assisted by Ryan Paul and Green Moon. Gudaitis would strike again, this time on the power play giving the Stars the 3 goal lead. His goal would come 7:26 into the period, assisted by Ian Gately and Nick Johnson. Cape Cod would respond with 1 goal before the end of the 2nd. New England would once again capitalize on the powerplay! This time it would be Ryan Paul, assisted by Tim Paige and Ian Gately 11:16 into the 3rd. Cape Cod would only be able to notch 1 more giving the Stars the 4-2 victory. Greg Moon stopped 20 of 22 shots in net for the Stars

On Sunday, March 11th, the Stars would have their final regular season game, hosted the L/A Fighting Spirit for the 2nd time in the same week. Ryan Paul would kick things off finding the back of the net on the power play, 13:31 in, assisted by Nick Johnson and Ian Gately. Time Paige would extend the lead to 2 less than 2 minutes later! His goal assisted by Cole Archambeault and Ian Gately. The 2nd period would be all Spirit tying the game at 2 a piece. John Krapian would regain the lead for New England with a goal 8:10 into the 3rd, assisted by Nick Johnson and Ian Gately. Nick Johnson would capitalize next for New England scoring 12:05 in. His goal being assisted by Eric Glover. The Spirit would bring the game within 1 only to have the Stars seal the win with an Open Netter goal by Brendan Miller giving New England the 5-3 victory! Sage Broda had the win in net stopping 28 of 31 shots.

Playoffs start this upcoming week with the New England Stars seeded against the Cape Cod Islanders. Game 1 will be held at Skate 3 Arena on Friday, March 17th, at 6:20 PM. Game 2 will be held in Falmouth on Saturday, March 18th, at 2:30 PM. Game 3 (if necessary) will be held on Sunday, March 19th, at Skate 3 Arena at 1:50 PM.
