New England Stars & Overtime Games

New England Stars | 39% of Games Require Overtime

To date, 3159 Tier 3 Junior Hockey games have been played this season, including 414 which required extra time to find a winner.  Overtime accounts for roughly 13% of all games played.

While some teams will finish the season without a single game requiring extra time, teams like the New England Stars play a large percent of their games in overtime.  In fact, of the 38 games played by the Stars 15 were decided in overtime/shootout.  This accounts for 39% of the teams overall games and nearly 4% of all Tier 3 overtime games.  With 11 OT/SO losses on the season, the Stars registered more OT losses than any other team.  A statistic that makes sense since they play more overtime games than most teams.  In fact, the Stars have yet to play 5 consecutive games without an overtime.

The Stars currently sit #2 in the Coastal Division behind the Long Beach Sharks.  A team they lost back to back games in overtime/shootout earlier this month.

A team that keeps it close, over 50% of the New England Stars games have been decided by a single goal and 72% of the teams losses have come by a single goal.  With 9 games remaining on the regular season schedule, the team has yet to clinch a play off spot.  The Cape Cod Islanders, LA Fighting Spirit and Northeast Generals are all in contention with the Stars to fill the remaining 3 spots behind the Long Beach Sharks.

The Stars currently hold a 20-7-11 record.  Only 5 of the teams losses were by more than a single goal.
